A Polynesian island hideaway, a former palace in India and Pippa Middleton's favourite holiday haunt: The hotels voted the best in the world revealed


  • Eden Rock Hotel in St Barths has been voted the best hotel in the world by Condé Nast Traveller readers
  • The exclusive property is owned by Pippa Middleton's new in-laws and is part of the Oetker Collection
  • Well-heeled travellers also picked 20 hotels from each region, including the St Regis hotel in Bora Bora

The luxurious hotel on St Barths that is owned by Pippa Middleton's prospective in-laws has been voted one of the best in the world.
Eden Rock, part of the Oetker Collection which includes The Lanesborough in London and Le Bristol in Paris, received the accolade in the 2016 Conde Nast Traveller’s Readers’ Choice Awards. 
But it's not the only win for James Matthews' parents - another prestigious address in the collection, Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, France, also took the crown for the best overseas holiday hotel in the European region.
Honing in on properties boasting sumptuous cuisine, jaw-dropping views and idyllic locations,  here, MailOnline Travel reveals some of the publication's other notable winners around the world. 
Best in the Americas and Caribbean 
As well as winning the overall crown of the best hotel in the world, Eden Rock in St Barths also came top of its category in the Americas and Caribbean

Guests can choose from 116 spacious guest rooms at the hotel, split across three different locations. Each of these is elegantly decorated and looks out over the property's stunning surroundings.
For stylish locals, its bars are some of the most popular in the region but for those with a sweet tooth, chocolates from the on-site atelier are not to be missed.

The reserve was originally established by the government in an effort to protect the region, which plays host to the wildebeest migration each year.
There's a range of different accommodation options for guests to get as close to the animals in their natural habitats as possible.

Best in Australasia and the South Pacific 
With views of tropical beaches and incredible spa facilities, it's no surprise that The St. Regis Bora Bora Resort is top of the regional category
