A
nursery that might fit her royal tastes is one created by interior
designer Elizabeth Coombs of Modern Antiquity, which uses a mix of
feminine dusky pinks and sophisticated greys.
The
designer created the beautiful room when her daughter was born in July
last year and when Coombs posted the image on the interiors site, the
designer was inundated with questions about how to achieve the look.
Since then almost 40,000 Houzz.com users have added the image to their online 'ideabooks'.

So what does the designer advise for creating a room with a royal feel?
'What
makes this nursery look fit for a princess is the canopy and sheers
above the crib, the beautiful gathered crib skirt, large bows, and
crystal light fixture,' she explained.
'I
chose very natural materials with linens and cottons, but if the
duchess wanted to a more luxurious look choosing a lovely satin, rich
silk, or plush velvet in place of my more natural choices would do just
the trick - although they may not be as practical.'
Her other tip to the couple is to add some heirlooms - something Kate and Wills are not short of.
The dark wood, striped wallpaper and brass accessories gives this room a plush feel

A royal carriage above the changer, a round cot and a mini chandelier add a little extra sparkle to this nursery
'I
would also imagine that William and Kate have passed down heirloom
items from their families just like I included my mother's rocking chair
in my daughter's room,' says Coombs.
'Adding family items always add a special touch,' she says.
Coombs says the place to start is the colour scheme.
'I
knew I wanted the colour scheme to include a soft pink, creams, and a
warm grey with a little bit of green as an accent,' she says.
'The
changing table and crib are both a beautiful weathered grey and I loved
the upholstered grey linen sides and trim on the crib,' she says.
'The
bedding was custom made and I knew that a lovely combed cotton sateen
would be perfect for the bows, ruffle, and skirting as they would lay
nicely and complement the linen prints in the custom butterfly pleat
drapery as well as the bumper face,' she adds.
'Green
linen accents were added to the leading edge of the drapery, the inside
of the bumper, and also to a refurbished child's rocking chair that was
my mother's when she was a little girl.'
And if Kate is going to be making nigh-time visits to settle the little princess, Coombs advises a luxurious seat.
A room for a very modern princess?
Designer Cindy Musgrove at Blu Sky Living Interior Design in Dallas
created this modern nursery for her daughter. 'We wanted to create a
pretty and vibrant space with nice items that would transition easily to
a toddler room,' she explains
Mustard yellow and black create a striking room with feminine bows and frills
White wash and light wood give this nursery a fresh frill, while frills and bows add a feminine touch
'I
love the curves and comfort of the swivel glider for those late nights
and a cream linen was chosen for the piece accented with a pillow of the
same pattern from the drapery as well as a knit cotton pouf ottoman,'
she explains.
Monogrammed letters above the cot also add a personal touch as does the antiqued mirror above the changing table.
There's
also clever hidden storage in the ottomans. No doubt something Kate and
Will may need given the gifts that will be arriving for the princess.
One last tip? Never neglect the ceiling.
'The
ceiling is a canvas for design,' says Coombs. 'So a soft pink was
painted that perfectly reflects the chenille embroidered rug at the
nursery floor.'
As Kate always looks perfect from top to toe, we're sure would never neglect such matters as the royal nursery ceiling.
