Cromlix House Hotel in Perthshire is due to open to the public this week following a lavish re-design that the press release claims has ‘reinvented the glorious era of grand country house living’.

The five-star retreat is set in 34 acres of secluded woodland and gardens just three miles from the Wimbledon champion’s home town of Dunblane and rooms at the hotel will cost up to £585 per night in peak season.

It has 10-bedrooms and five suites, each of which is named after a great Scot, including Robert the Bruce, William Wallace, Robert Burns and even fellow sporting legends Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Chris Hoy.

Several of the suites feature hand-painted freestanding gold, silver and copper baths and the rooms’ 32in televisions screens are disguised as mirrors.

The grey-stone Victorian mansion features antique furniture throughout and boasts its own loch, tennis courts and private chapel, which can be used for weddings.
Guests will dine under the stars in the Chez Roux restaurant, which is housed in a glass-walled conservatory overlooking the hotel grounds.
Chez Roux is overseen by legendary French chef Albert Roux, who owns La Gavroche in London - the first British restaurant to win three Michelin stars.
It features French navy and moss green chairs, large orange lampshades and an open kitchen where diners can watch the chefs at work.

Other dining options include the Garden Room, which features an impressive long dining table and overlooks the hotel’s front lawn.
And in the first-floor snooker room, the full-size snooker table can be flipped over to turn it into a dining table for private parties.
Meanwhile, guests can enjoy Champagne afternoon tea in the main lounge, read a book or play a game of chess.
There is also a drawing room with an open fire, a stylish bar whose walls are hand-painted with gold leaf peacocks and a whisky room that features a floor-to-ceiling cabinet stocked full of single malts.

The 26-year-old tennis star bought Cromlix House Hotel for £1.8million in February last year.
Murray said at the time: ‘I am pleased to have acquired Cromlix House and look forward to securing its future as a successful business.
‘By re-establishing Cromlix as a leading luxury hotel at the heart of the Dunblane community we will be able to attract new visitors to the area, create a number of new jobs and focus on supporting other local businesses.
‘I’m pleased to be able to give something back to the community I grew up in.’

The hotel was previously in the hands of the Eden family for 30 years and was a popular wedding venue. Murray’s brother Jamie married his Colombian wife Alejandra Gutierrez there in 2010.
It is due to open just ahead of the 2014 Ryder Cup, which is being staged a short drive away in Gleneagles.
But Murray is set to miss the hotel’s grand opening as he will be in Italy, preparing for the Davis Cup quarter final. Instead, his mum Judy will be the guest of honour – which is fitting as she has masterminded much of the hotel’s refit.

The hotel will be managed on behalf of Murray by Inverlochy Castle Management International, which already runs a series of independent properties in Scotland.
The company’s managing director, Norbert Lieder, said: ‘Cromlix and Chez Roux combine to truly offer one of the best hotel and restaurant experiences in the country.
‘The interiors, service, food and attention to every detail of the customer journey will make sure Cromlix becomes as well known for its service as it is for its famous owner.
‘We look forward to welcoming guests from all over Scotland, the UK and the world.’
Mike Cantlay, Chairman of VisitScotland, said Andy Murray would be a ‘terrific ambassador’ for the tourism industry: ‘The revamped Cromlix is bound to be a huge draw for visitors from all over the world, generating the kind of excitement that Andy creates on court.’
